Expected Results

In order to fulfill the main objective of the LIFE COOP Cortaderia project (Stop Cortaderia +. Development and implementation of a transnational alliance against Cortaderia), we work to achieve the following results:

1) Eliminate 1,000 hectares of Cortaderia selloana in the Atlantic Arc, distributed as follows:

  • 250 hectares of Cortaderia in Coastal Protected Natural Areas and their buffer zones;
  • 20 hectares of river bank;
  • 450 ha in Cortaderia expansion areas;
  • 150 ha in electrical infrastructure;
  • 130 ha due to drag effect;

2) Reach 250 entities adhering to the Transnational Strategy to fight Cortaderia.

3) Offer effective and real technical assistance to at least 25 entities in the Atlantic Arc.

4) At least one entity at the regional level and ten entities at the municipal level assume the recommendations made.

5) At least two certification entities assume the technical recommendations to obtain environmental certifications to make the fight against the feather duster more effective.

6) Train at least 800 professionals from different sectors in the fight against Cortaderia.

7) Know in detail the allergenic potential of Cortaderia.

8) Carry out at least 8 knowledge transfer seminars.

9) Develop a Pilot Action Plan to eradicate Cortaderia in the Ebro Delta.

10) Carry out actions with at least 3,000 volunteers.

11) Hold at least 80 talks for the general public.

12)  Provide 300 primary and secondary schoolchildren from the Atlantic Arc withproject activities particularly taylored to their age group.

13) Reach 5,000 followers on social networks who receive the message of the harmful effects of Cortaderia.

14) Update of the Transnational Strategy to combat Cortaderia selloana in the Atlantic Arc and the Manual of Good Practices for the Control of Cortaderia selloana.
